Zorali vs Revolution Race
Recently, we were both on the lookout for some new hiking pants. Jess purchased the Zorali Venture Pants, and Sam picked up the Revolution Race Rambler Pants. We’ve been wearing them for a few weeks now — here’s what we think.
What Jess loves about the Zorali Venture pants
As soon as I saw the Zorali Venture Pants, I loved the design and knew I wanted a pair. After wearing them for a few weeks, I haven’t been disappointed — I’m really happy with the purchase. Here’s what I love the most:
They’re lightweight, but still durable
The fabric is fairly thin and light, but I’ve hiked through scrubby tracks and scrambled over rocks without a single scratch or tear. The material moves really well, and the high waist makes them extra comfy!
Water resistant fabric
I haven’t tested them in a heavy downpour (and I’d rather not hike in those conditions if I can avoid it), but in light rain or on overgrown, wet tracks, the water beads on the surface and brushes right off.
Multiple pockets
Between carrying my camera gear and hiking with my sons, I usually have a lot to manage. The more I can carry on me — and the less I have to take my pack off — the better. These pants have loads of pockets, and I love that the zips are waterproof too.
What Sam loves about the Revolution Race Rambler pants
I instantly fell in love when I saw an ad for the Revolution Race Rambler Pants. The two-tone colours, the fit, the overall look — everything! I’ve worn them a few times now and can already tell they’re going to be a favourite. Here’s what stands out for me:
The design and colours
I love the two-tone design. The shape is slim without being tight like leggings, and the fabric is lightweight with great movement on the trail. They’re also super customisable — not just to your body, but to trail conditions too. There’s an internal belt with Velcro tabs to cinch the waistband, and zips at the ankles to widen the legs and fit over boots. You can also tighten the cuffs with press studs. And the zippers are lockable — the sliders lay flat, so they don’t flap around or catch on things. Small detail, big win.
Pockets
Big pockets. Deep pockets. Pockets on top of pockets! I can actually fit my phone in them without it sticking out the top. On cold days, I can put my hands in my pockets and they’re actually comfortable.
Water resistant
I’ve only worn them in light drizzle so far. I wasn’t really paying attention, but later realised my pants were still completely dry. So far, I’m impressed!
How well do the Zorali Venture’s fit?
They fit great! I ordered my usual size and found the Venture Pants to be true to size. I especially love the length. As a short girlie, pants are usually too long for me — but these are just right. And if I want them even shorter, there’s an elastic pull at the hem so I can roll them up and cinch them in.
How well do the Revolution Race Ramblers fit?
I sized up after reading a few reviews and I’m so glad I did — the fit is spot on. They sit comfortably on my body and I don’t find myself constantly adjusting them. I also love the length. I have the opposite problem to Jess — most pants are too short. But these? They actually reach my boots!
What Jess doesn’t love about the Zorali Venture pants
Nothing so far! Although I do think they might be a bit too warm in hot summer weather — but that’s fine by me, because I usually hike in shorts during summer anyway.
What Sam doesn’t love about the Revolution Race Rambler pants
If I had to nitpick, I’d say I wish the thigh vents were on the outer seams instead of the inner seams. But honestly, I’ll forgive that because the fit is so good. My only other thought is that the fabric might be a bit too light for really rough trails — time will tell.
Final Thoughts
We were both able to find a pair of hiking pants that suit our individual needs, and we’re stoked with our choices. If you're in the market for hiking pants and curious about what we’re wearing, here are the links:
